धनर्णषड् विधम - ८ (Addition and Subtraction 8)

योगे धनयोः क्षययोर्योगः स्यात् स्वर्णयोर्भवेद् विवरम्।

अधिकादूनमपास्य च शेषं तद्भावमुपयाति॥८॥

The sum of two positive quantities or two negative quantities is their sum but the sum of two different quantities (one positive and another negative) is their difference: from the greater one the smaller one should be subtracted and the remainder gets the sign of the greater one.

Here I am guessing that the meaning of स्वर्ण is mixed. I would appreciate if anyone can let me know the exact meaning.
