Dear Friends,
The Pota family was blessed with a daughter on 30 July 1996; the day was Guru Purnima (the fullmoon day) and is considered to be very auspiciuos. Mita was due on 2 Aug but I had used the special powers vested in me by the Almighty and had predicted that the baby will be born on 30 July. And so it was. Both Mita and the baby are fine.
The first letter of the baby's name had to be `kha' or `ja'; the baby is born under the moon-sign `makar' and such is the fate of all people born in that moon-sign. For Divyanshu and Shuchita we didn't much worry about the moon-sign and gave them names which came to mind but this time Mita's mother is here in Canberra with us and she insisted that the name should be according to the moon-sign.
After much search the name *Jwalita* was chosen by Mita. Many a names were suggested and many a names rejected. The reasons for rejecting names were various. Most frequent reason was that Mita knows someone with that name and Mita doesn't like that person! So finally Mita picked up a name which to her recollection no one (I mean no mere mortal) is called by. And I agreed as I had on previous two occassions. I forget, Shuchita had a constraint too; like Himanshu rhymes with Divyanshu and Mita rhymes with Shuchita so should the baby's name rhyme with Mita and Shuchita; Jwalita has satisfied all!
Jwalita literally means light or the one who is burning (like the Sun). Mita tells me that she picked the name from amongst the thousand & one names of Maha Laxmi. Let's hope that little Jwalita will bring prosperity and light to the Pota family.
In case you people have forgotten the count in our family, it stands at three children and two adults!
1. Divyanshu Pota (7 1/2 yrs) 2. Shuchita Pota (6 yrs) 3. Jwalita Pota (1 month).
Shuchita and Divyanshu are taking it well. Shuchita plays with Jwalita like she used to play with any other doll. Naturally Mita is always on the edge when Shuchita and Jwalita are together. But overall they are fine. Divyanshu is waiting for the day when he can teach Jwalita dunking (I think it is something to do with basketball) and cricket.
We thought we will share this news with you and request your blessings for the `little cutie pie' as Shuchita calls her.
